Transformation Complete

Remember way back when I offered a custom designed box as a give away, and then had some Artist's Block? Well...thank goodness the fog lifted and I was able to produce this little beauty. I'm very proud of the results...

It was a very interesting process...working with the client for the first time on one of these. I realize that it takes a lot of trust on the part of the recipient to let go and allow me to do my thing without knowing how it will turn out. I suppose it's much easier when said piece of art is free.

Outside: Mossy Tree Bark in Inverness

I don't know if anyone remembers...but I posted a "before" shot of this box a while back with "A Peek Inside My Studio." It's fun to see how we can transform things.

Inside: Rocks in The River Ness

I have decided to call these "Spirit Boxes." Because that's what they are...I try to infuse them with the soon-to-be owner's energy while keeping true to my style as an artist. So far, I'm very happy and at peace working this way. It's allowed me to stretch my mind a little bit more.

"All things share the same breath - the beast, the tree, the man... the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports." --Chief Seattle

I also see how, no matter how grand my first idea is, I always tend to strip it back to the essence of a moment or sentence or word that stood out for me. And then it feels effortless and fun. Sort of like the way I'm living my life right now.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to create any of these while in Scotland...but I'm going to mull over some new ideas that I can possibly execute while away. Got to keep the creative juices flowing!

Perhaps Id hazard to say, it's much easier when you have faith; in the person, and in the process.
