Me In Edinburgh, April 2011

I feel like there should be more to do. I mean...I'm changing my whole life and it seems so simple...too simple? No. I think it should feel this simple when it's right. And...I've been to where I'm going before...

I know how it feels to arrive in Edinburgh and stand on line with my passport...aching to get into town.

I remember well the feeling of seeing Princes Street Gardens and smelling the air...walking up Calton Hill so I can gaze across to see Arthur's Seat.

Of walking to Waverley station to pick up my train tickets...

Feel the train around me and can see the country moving past as the electronic voice marks off the stops...and I enjoy some tea while the train splits in two before we are on our way to Oban.

I've enjoyed a toastie or two while waiting for the ferry to Mull...

And I've sat on the wall at Craignure, swinging my legs while waiting for the bus to Fionnophort.

I can see Iona approaching as the last ferry makes its way across the sound

And I can feel the air touch my face as I disembark...and make my way towards the Nunnery...the Abbey in the distance. A silently strong welcoming sight.

I am not a stranger to these things...

And yet they delight me each and every time.

The only difference now, is that I get to stay awhile longer.

Sure...this is a whole different experience from my last trips to Iona...but it doesn't feel like I need to DO much...other than show up and take it from there. Maybe this is what comes from simplifying. That's really all I need to do.

Thursday is Go Time.

XO
